A Perfect Day in Washington

No political statements here. Yesterday was just about as perfect of a day as you can ever find in the Nations Capital. I decided there was no reason not to join in the celebration of spring with the thousands of other residents and visitors to the area. As a native of the area I often forget how fantastic the city can be. It was a great people watching day. There were families with small children, active retirees, multi-generational groups and of course the bus loads of tourists and students.

Just outside the FDR Memorial was a group of students from Georgia answering history questions about the year 1942. At the Lincoln Memorial there was an artist from Japan playing the koto (a 13 string zither) and at the Jefferson Memorial a group of tourists from Germany taking loads of pictures. Each group was enthralled with the views of all of the Cherry Blossoms and memorials.

It was fun to snap lots of pictures for couples who needed the perfect shot and answer the “how do I get there” questions. It was terrific to forget about real estate for a day. So take a moment to stop and smell the roses...or in this case cherry blosoms. I hope that you have found the perfect day as well.
